To find out what’s hot in the world of technology for 2016, one must hit the CES, Consumer Electronics Show, the largest techie trading show on the planet. Each year Las Vegas hosts 170,000 plus vendors to show the off the latest in product developments and technology available to consumers
The 2016 CES trade show had a lot to unveil; sensors, voice recognition, virtual reality, smart TV’s, and, of course, drones. Here’s a recap of what we learned from Hardware Secrets and Sandy Berger about this year’s technology trends.
EVERYTHING COMES WITH A SENSOR
Because the cost to manufacture sensors has plummting, they are now being adding to just about anything you can think of. Hardware Secrets said that 15,000 new products out of the 20,000 that CES presented have sensors.
TALK TEXT EVOLUTION
We thought ‘Talk Text’ was something…now the big three: Apple, Microsoft and Amazon are ‘connecting’ and sharing information. Therefore, Apple’s Siri, Microsoft’s Cortana and Amazon’s Alexa can learn from each other, making the possibilities for voice recognition in our homes, autos and offices limitless.
Soon the technology of virtual reality will be using for far more than just games. Think about using it for choosing a hotel room with the adding the ability to be inside the room looking around before you buy?
There are exciting innovations in the auto/tech category this year. Cars now have voice recognition, sensors, semi-autonomous parking, lane assist and adaptive cruise control. The larger car makers expect to have fully autonomous vehicles by 2020! And expect that nearly half of all of the cars sold in 2025 will be fully autonomous as well!
BIGGER, BETTER, SMARTER, TV
TV’s have become bigger and brighter as well as thinner and cheaper! Smart TV’s have also integrated home automation, better interfaces and improved audio, all the while making them simpler to use.
DRONES GETTING BETTER
We see drones everywhere, in cameras and toys following the action, used for delivery, you name it. Drones are a major trend in 2016.
