Megan Barry, Mayor Of Nashville, Loses Son

On Sunday, Mayor Megan Barry, of Nashville Tennessee, announced that her son passed away due to a drug overdose.

Her office sent out a statement on behalf of the mayor and her husband, Bruce. In the statement, they said that their son Max Barry, 22, dies on Saturday night while in Denver.
The couple stated that they had received the news Early Sunday morning. It was something they said no parent should have to wake to. They went on to say that their son Max passes from an apparent overdose. The couple then said that the pain the two are in from losing their child is very hard to put into words. Their one and only son was very kind and had a lot of love for his friends and family.

Their son Max just graduated back in June from the University of Puget Sound, which is in Tacoma, Washington.

In the statement from the Barry family, at this time, they want for people to pray for them. Also, if everyone could respect their privacy on the matter at this time as they mourn this great loss.

As of now, there is no date for the funeral.

Megan Barry became Nashville’s first female mayor back in September of 2015. Her husband and son were both standing by her side.
Raquel Lopez, a spokes woman for the Denver police, chose not go through the department’s logs and records in search of Barry’s police report. She said that doing so would violate policies set in place.

They will not release the official cause or manner of death until after the family learns of the results.

According to news sources, Barry just recently moved to Denver.
