Turkish Government WantsTo Arrest Enes Kanter

Enes Kanter seems not to be worried the Turkish Government or his fellow NBA playmates. For assaulting Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, prosecutors want the Knicks center to at least four years in prison.

At practice on Wednesday, Kanter can’t believe they only want to give him four years for trash talking their president.

Kanter supports Fethullah Gulen, a Turkish preacher who Turkey blames for a military coup failure. During May and June of 2016, the forward wrote some offensive tweets about Turkey’s president.

At the time, Kanter was playing for the Thunder. While in Romania, he was detained because his Turkish passport was no good. He was only able to come back to the U.S. after involvement from American officials. However, there was also a warrant for the arrest of Kanter.

While at the airport, he was calling the president a dictator, and that he was the Hitler of this century.

In an interview, Kanter said that he was praying for the people of Turkey. Also, that he looks forward to playing in the playoffs.

He goes on to say in the interview that officials in Turkey hate when he gets on camera and speaks negatively of them. Kanter says this is the reason they are coming for him. He believes that if his team makes the playoff, it will drive President Recep crazy.

Kanter says that they won’t play any of the Knicks games in his home country.

Enes goes on to say that they are losing a lot of money by not airing their games. Certain shoe companies don’t want to work with him because of fear from the Turkish government. Some of them have millions of dollars invested in the country.

Thursday, the Knicks will be playing against the Celtics at a home game. Right now, when it comes to the Eastern Conference, the Knicks are in eighth place.
