There were rumors back in December that during the red carpet walk at the Golden Globes, there would be a blackout. According to the rumors, certain stars were saying that they would band together and wear all-black dresses and outfits. They are doing so to make a statement against the sexual harassment epidemic. Celebs aren’t the only ones feelings the impact. It is occuring in all facets of life.
On social media, there were hints, but then more and more people began to talk about the blackout. However, on Jan. 2, the New York Times revealed that the black would be a part of much larger organized campaign that they are calling, “Times Up.”
Over 300 figure within the entertainment industry has said they will be a part of the initiative. The initiative is about combating sexual assault, harassment, and inequality for woman all over the world. So far, the campaign has raised over $15 million for legal defense funds.
Will There Be A “Blackout” During The Golden Globes?
Some start coming to the event in al black ar Saoirse Ronan, Gal Gadot, and Allison Janney. Dwayne “, the Rock” Johnson and Edgar Ramirez, will also be wearing all black during the event.
Though many stylists have been hush-hush about who’s wearing what, reports have come out that designers are receiving more and more requests for all black outfits.
More and more celebrities are coming out to show their support for the movement.
During an interview with the New York Times, Eva Longoria said that most women are planning to wear black during the Golden Globes.
She goes on to say that this not a moment for fashion, but to show solidarity. Longoria says that for years, these type of award shos always showed celebs in their elegant gowns and beautiful faces. This time around, it will be about women and men sticking together to fight this epidemic.
