Hong Kong Woman Scammed By Company

We’ve all seen or have heard our fair share of scams, but this one takes the cake, literally. A 21-year-old woman from Hong Kong was tricked by her company into marrying a stranger! Allegedly, it was a part of the training process to become a wedding planner.

A report from the South China Morning Posts says that back in May, the woman in question was responding to an Ad looking for makeup artist apprentices. After applying, she was told that if she were to go for the wedding planning position, she could make even more money. So the company was able to arrange for her to take a training course, free of charge. This past June, she flew out to a Fujian Province in China. Fuzhou, to pass what was suppose to be a wedding planning exam.

Hong Kong Native Fake Marries Man During Scam

In June, she flew to the city of Fuzhou in the Fujian province of China to pass a wedding planning exam. She was participating in a fake marriage as well. A man around the same age signed what was said to be a “fake” marriage certificate. According to the woman, the company was going to void the certificate after the ceremony. After returning home to Hong Kong and speaking with her friends, she came to the conclusion that it was all a scam.

Due to a lack of evidence, police were not able to help the young woman. Currently, the Federation of Trade Unions (FTU) is looking into her situation.

As of now, it is unclear what the exact motive for having her marry the man. However, similar situations have occurred. Mainland Chinese resident will marry residents of Hong Kong as a means to become a citizen of the country.

She and the rest of the world will have to wait and see how the rest of her fake/real marriage will play out. However, hopfully her scammers will receive the justice they deserve, and the young lady can move forward from this fiasco.
