Many know Jane Fonda for being an award-winning actress. However, what many don’t know is that she is also an activist. Jane Fonda has been under arrest for the past four Fridays in a row in the nation’s capital. Be that as it may, this time around she was facing more serious consequences. With the inspiration from Swedish teen activist Greta Thunberg, the 81-year-old activist has been protesting climate change on capitol hill. During her first three interactions with cops, they subdued her but let her go after a few hours.
On Friday, Fonda had to spend her first night in jail over the protests. Fire Drill Fridays, her group, says that Fonda will see her day in court. Others apart of the group are actresses Rosanna Arquette and Catherine Keener. Both were under arrest with Fonda as well.
Jane Fonda Was Under Arrest This Weekend After Protesting Climate Change On Capitol Hill
Jane Fonda has spent the past four Fridays getting arrested in the nation’s capital, as per her plan, but this time around, she faced a more serious consequence. In a statement on Friday, the group was saying that climate change is an issue for women. Though it threatens everyone, they claim that its’ impact is more vulnerable to women and girls.
However, there are critics who believe she is out seeking attention. Fonda says that the easiest way to attack a celebrity is to say that he or she is doing it for promotions. But during her interview with Fox 5. she says that there’s a bigger agenda for her and her peers’ protests. She doesn’t care if police throw her in jail every Friday. She was telling the newscasters that it wasn’t her first time in jail and she expects to be in jail next month for her 82nd birthday.
